Privacy Policy
One Step Beyond Inc.(hereinafter referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our company”) hereby sets forth the following privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as this “Policy”) regarding the handling of privacy information in connection with the services (hereinafter referred to as the “Services”) provided on this website.

Article 1 (Privacy Information)

  1. Among the privacy information we handle, “personal information” shall mean “personal information” as defined by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan. This refers to information about a living individual that can identify a specific individual by name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact details, or other descriptions included in such information.
  2. Among the privacy information, “history information and characteristic information” refers to any information other than the “personal information” described above. This includes, for example, the Services or products used or purchased, the pages or advertisements viewed, search keywords entered by the user, the date and time of use, usage methods, usage environment, postal code, gender, occupation, age, the user’s IP address, cookie information, location information, and device identification information.

Article 2 (Method of Collecting Privacy Information)

  1. We may ask users for personal information such as name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, bank account number, credit card number, driver’s license number, and the like when they register for use of the Services. We may also collect transaction records, including users’ personal information, or information related to payments, from our affiliates (including information providers, advertisers, advertising distributors, and others, hereinafter referred to as “Affiliates”) if such transactions take place between the user and our Affiliates.
  2. We collect history information and characteristic information about users — such as the Services and software used, products purchased, pages and advertisements viewed, search keywords, date and time of use, usage methods, usage environment (including communication status of mobile devices and various setting information during use), IP address, cookie information, location information, and device identification information — when users use our Services or those of our Affiliates, or view pages.

Article 3 (Purposes of Collecting and Using Personal Information)

We collect and use personal information for the following purposes:

  1. To allow users to view and modify their own registration details and to review their usage history, by displaying registration information such as name, address, contact information, payment methods, the Services used, products purchased, and related costs.
  2. To use email addresses to notify or contact users, and to use contact information such as names and addresses to ship products or communicate with users when necessary.
  3. To verify the identity of users by using information including name, date of birth, address, telephone number, bank account number, credit card number, driver’s license number, and delivery confirmation results of certified mail.
  4. To invoice users by using information regarding purchased product names and quantities, types, duration, and number of Services used, billing amounts, user name, address, and payment-related information such as bank account numbers or credit card numbers.
  5. To display the information registered with us on input screens so that users can easily enter data, or to transfer such information to other Services (including those provided by Affiliates) under the instructions of users.
  6. To refuse the use of the Services by users who violate the Terms of Service of the Services — for example, by delaying payment or causing damage to a third party — or who attempt to use the Services for fraudulent or improper purposes, by using information necessary for personal identification such as usage patterns, name, and address.
  7. To respond to user inquiries by using information including inquiry details and billing information, as well as information needed for us to provide Services to users, usage status, and contact details.
  8. For purposes ancillary to the above purposes of use.

Article 4 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

  1. We will not provide personal information to third parties without prior consent of the user, except in the following cases or as otherwise permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other applicable laws and regulations:
    1. When required by law;
    2. When necessary for the protection of a person’s life, body, or property, and when obtaining consent from the individual is difficult;
    3. When particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound growth of children, and obtaining consent from the individual is difficult;
    4. When cooperation with a governmental agency, local public body, or an entity entrusted by them is required in order to carry out duties prescribed by law, and obtaining consent from the individual may hinder the performance of such duties;
    5. When the following items have been notified or announced in advance:
      • Inclusion of provision to third parties as one of the purposes of use;
      • Items of data to be provided to third parties;
      • Means or methods of provision to third parties;
      • Suspension of provision of personal information to third parties at the request of the individual.
  2. Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the following cases shall not be deemed to constitute provision of personal information to a third party:
    1. When we entrust all or part of the handling of personal information to the extent necessary for achieving the purpose of use;
    2. When personal information is provided as a result of the succession of business due to a merger or other reasons;
    3. When personal information is to be used jointly with a specific party, and we have notified the individual in advance or made it readily accessible to the individual regarding the fact of joint use, the items of personal information subject to joint use, the scope of joint users, the purposes for which the users will use the personal information, and the name or title of the person responsible for managing the relevant personal information.

Article 5 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

  1. When we receive a request from an individual for disclosure of his or her personal information, we will disclose the information to the individual without delay. However, we may decide not to disclose all or part of the personal information if disclosure falls under any of the following circumstances, and if we decide not to disclose the information, we will notify the individual without delay. Please note that a fee of 1,000 yen per request will be charged for the disclosure of personal information:
    1. If there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of the individual or a third party;
    2. If disclosure is likely to significantly impede the proper performance of our business;
    3. If disclosure violates any other laws or regulations.
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, in principle we will not disclose any information other than personal information such as history information and characteristic information.

Article 6 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

  1. If a user discovers that the personal information we hold about them is incorrect, the user may request that we correct or delete such personal information in accordance with the procedures determined by us.
  2. If we decide that it is necessary to comply with the request set forth in the preceding paragraph, we will correct or delete the relevant personal information without delay and notify the user thereof.

Article 7 (Suspension of Use of Personal Information, etc.)

If we receive a request from an individual to suspend or delete the use of personal information (hereinafter referred to as “Suspension of Use, etc.”) on the grounds that the personal information is being used beyond the scope of the purposes of use or that it was obtained by improper means, we will conduct the necessary investigation without delay. Based on the results, we will carry out the Suspension of Use, etc. of such personal information and notify the individual to that effect. However, in cases where the Suspension of Use, etc. would require a large expense or is otherwise difficult to implement, and alternative measures are available to protect the individual’s rights and interests, we will take such alternative measures.

Article 8 (Changes to the Privacy Policy)

  1. The contents of this Policy may be changed without notice to users.
  2. Except as otherwise provided by us, the revised Privacy Policy shall take effect from the time it is posted on this website.
